Ms. GiaHoa Ryan moved from Vietnam to northeast Ohio in 1971. She settled in Lorain County and quickly became an integral part of the community as a business owner, restauranteur, activist and teacher. She has served as a member of the community relationship board for 3 different Cleveland mayors, and in 1993 founded the Friendship Foundation of the American Vietnamese – a humanitarian organization that builds bridges between Vietnamese and Asian citizens with Americans. In 2012 her foundation announced their sponsorship of the Vietnamese Cultural Garden. Now serving as the President of the Vietnamese Cultural Garden Committee, Ms. Ryan will talk about how the garden came to be, the sculpture being created for the garden, and other plans for the garden’s unveiling, tentatively scheduled for the summer of 2020.
