Cleveland Botanical Garden Summer Camps 2020

Thank you for your patience as we weighed the possibility of hosting our traditional camp experience on site this summer. After many consultations with representatives from the American Camp Association and our fellow museum and nature camp associates it is with a heavy heart that we have decided that it is in the best interest of our campers to cancel our traditional summer camp experience this summer.

Unfortunately, we feel that at this time there is simply too much uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 virus combined with the challenge of offering a camp in a co-mingled public museum environment to feel confident that we could offer a safe and enriching camp experience for your children this summer.

While we are extremely disappointed by this news, we have taken this opportunity to offer our camp families an alternative experience this summer. I’d like to point out that what we have developed is not a replacement for summer camp, as we acknowledge that the social bonds, guided play and exploration on our campuses and the unique experience afforded by in person camps cannot be replaced. What we are offing is a new program exclusive to our camp families. This program includes:

  • An exclusive Play Along Pack – filled with activities for your camper to explore independently, guided by instructional videos or on site with personal attention from our Environmental Educator. The Packs provide any supplies needed for a fun experience from home, yet campers are welcome to visit us on site where we offer opportunities for further engagement.
    30 min.
  • 30 Min. Live Daily Interactives- Join our Environmental Educator for 30 minute daily episodes that playfully tie together each theme with challenges that call for audience participation. Activities include virtual hikes, interactive hunts and suspenseful mysteries.
  • An activity journal to stimulate your child’s creativity as they follow along with the theme of the week.
    These packaged activities will have the same theme and fall on the same scheduled week as our originally scheduled camps. To participate in this new experience there is a $30 fee per member child and $45 fee per nonmember child per week. We are capping each week at 15 children and offering this experience to those families who are registered for our traditional camps first. Any remaining slots will be available for the public to register.

Registered participants will receive a full schedule for their week of camp and detailed instructions about their Play Pack pick-up approximately 7-10 days prior to their scheduled week of camp.

Garden to Fork

Cost: $30/member; $45 per nonmember

Age Range: Grades 3-5
Monday, July 20th to Friday, July 24th

Campers are guaranteed to get their hands dirty daily–both in the garden and the kitchen! We’ll explore the world of farm-to-table food and campers will learn how to plant, harvest and cook with local vegetables & herbs, understand the import role pollinators play in our food systems and sample local honey, learn how to compost, and bring home a week’s worth of recipes that we’ll make throughout the week. Come with an appetite to learn!
