Cleveland Botancial Garden's Annual Gingerbread Competition
2009 Rules and Regulations

Have your masterpiece on display at Cleveland Botanical Garden as part of our annual WinterShow, November 21 through January 3. It's not too early to begin planning! Registration deadline is Friday, November 13.

Divisions:

• Family
  • Non-competitive (entrants receive four tickets to see their creation on display)
    
• Children (under 18)
  • First prize: $50 Garden Store gift certificate
  • Second prize: $30 Garden Store gift certificate
  • Third prize: $15 Garden Store gift certificate
    
• Adult (ages 18 and up)
  • First prize: $250 Garden Store gift certificate
  • Second prize: $100 Garden Store gift certificate
  • Third prize: $50 Garden Store gift certificate
    
• Professional
  • First prize: $250 Garden Store gift certificate
  • Second prize: $100 Garden Store gift certificate
  • Third prize: $50 Garden Store gift certificate
    
• Arts & Culture (non-profit institutions)
  • Non-competitive

Other divisions will be judged at 5 pm on Thursday, November 19.

Rules

1. Participants must register for the competition by November 13, 2009. Entry forms can be obtained:
   by completing online, by downloading an entry form, or e-mailing Cleveland Botanical Garden at wintershow@cbgarden.org .
2. All entries must be delivered to the Garden during the hours of 10:00 am and 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2009.
   The entries will remain on display at the Garden between November 21, 2009 through January 3, 2010.
3. The entry must be delivered in completed form, attached to a base enabling it to be freestanding.
4. Provide two (2) 3” x 5” cards listing your name, address, phone, e-mail, title and division you have entered. Both cards must be handed to WinterShow staff upon registration of your gingerbread house on Wednesday, November 18, 2009.
5. Any architectural structure – real or imaginary – is eligible for entry (i.e. farmhouse, train station, bridge, toy shop, fairytale mushroom cottage).
6. Judged entries must be original and all visible parts should be edible – gingerbread kits are not eligible. Judging will take place Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 5:00 pm. Winners will be notified by phone.
7. Entries must be picked up on Monday, January 4, 2010 by 5:00 pm
   The Garden reserves the right to dispose of entries remaining after that date.
8. The Garden reserves the right to photograph entries for promotional purposes. Photography becomes the property of Cleveland Botanical Garden.
9. The Garden reserves the right to take necessary precautions against infestation of gingerbread houses including and not limited to clear-coating each entry after judging.
